Dance (Exercise)

Status:Active, open to new members
Coordinator:
When: Weekly on Thursdays 9:00 am-10:00 am
Venue: Zoom

The class is a series of reasonably challenging dance exercises designed to improve posture, flexibility, extension, strength, control, coordination and balance. Dance exercises start with a whole body warm–up, then focus on developing strength and flexibility in the feet and legs. This continues into the hips and then the upper body where exercises work towards developing a more articulate torso. A slow controlled dance exercise focuses on balance. A combination of steps develops coordination whilst challenging movement memory. The session finishes with a cool down designed to stretch limbs and torso. Posture and core feature throughout the hour. Dance exercises are repeated for one month in order to give participants time to dance the exercises without having to watch the screen. Whilst challenging this is an inclusive group; participants are encouraged to modify the dance exercises to suit their own bodies. Participation enhances physical and mental well-being. All are welcome.
