Interest Groups

The heart of any u3a is the interest group.  These are run by members with an enthusiasm for a subject, for members with a similar enthusiasm.  Prior knowledge of a subject is not required - this is learning for fun.

Once a full u3a member, joining a group is entirely optional but many people belong to more than one group. Groups usually meet once or twice a month at a local venue or arrange trips of interest. Some groups may require extra funding for the venue, for trips or other incidental expenses.

OPEN GROUPS - These are open to all members and are a great way to meet people informally. Our Lunch Club, Theatre Group, Singing For Pleasure and three walking groups (not-too-strenuous) are always popular.

INTEREST GROUPS - These are generally smaller in size and focus on more specific study areas. Click on the group name to find out more about its activities.

For more information about joining a group or forming a new group, please meet the Groups Secretary over a cup of tea in the hall after the regular meetings, or send an email to Groups Secretary  .

Nearly all groups meet face to face, with a small number using Zoom. The list below shows the current groups.
